CSEF Key Priorities

Areas of Need Working with the school principal and the Catholic Secretariat, the CSEF has established the following areas of focus:

• Scholarships—We have consistently awarded between 30 and 40 full scholarships annually. We believe no deserving student should be denied a CCS education because of financial hardship.

• Teacher training—The dedicated staff and faculty of CCS need a chance to upgrade their teaching skills and become acquainted with up-to-date teaching techniques and technology.

• Textbooks—We are trying to locate suitable textbook series for all grades, especially high school science, mathematics, and literature.

• Library books—Encyclopedias and dictionaries are especially needed, as well as literature at all school levels.

• Computers and peripherals - Fund-raising initiatives have helped furnish two healthy computer labs that are currently available to grades 4-12. Like all computer systems, the lab will need frequent upgrades and an infusion of operating and educational software to remain up-to-date. .

• Science lab—A strong foundation in the sciences is hampered without hands-on experience. There is always a need for more equipment at all grade levels.

• Infrastructure—Located in the tropics and affected by the civil war, the school building needs continuing upkeep.

• Sports equipment and uniforms - Always in short supply and in need of replacement, and critical for a well-rounded education and a sense of self-esteem.
